Description
RAL has re-issued the colour atlas RAL D4. It is the basis of the RAL DESIGN System and the guidebook for perfect colour design. The RAL colour atlas shows all 1,825 system colours as original coating patterns. The foundation of the RAL DESIGN system is the the CIELab colour space, which is internationally used since 1976 and in which the colours are arranged according to hue (H), lightness (L) and chroma (C).
Did you know that the RAL DESIGN SYSTEM is based on a 3D model? It arranges the colours in three dimensions, according to hue, lightness and saturation. The Colour Atlas makes the system available in a handier binder and thus presents a swift, systematic overview of the over 1,825 current colour nuances with colour codes and additional colour information, which, for example, helps trend consultants in the development of collections.
The measurement values of the colour features HLC lead to the seven digit number of RAL DESIGN colours, for example RAL 260 30 40. The system is therefore very clearly understandable to colour scientists as well as colour designers. Not only is the new design of the colour atlas RAL D4 appealing to everyone. Because of the large number of logically arranged colours, it is the working tool which facilitates the creation of colour concepts.
